For daytime travel, try to go short distances, and for all trips with small children, you should try to stop periodically for a small snack or to change diapers.

If possible, bring a small travel bag with some favorite toys or books for the trip. Try not to bring toys that could break or that could become lost in the car.

If you have any tapes of your child's favorite music, play them during the drive. Bring one tape that has upbeat songs for when the child is restless and another for quiet time if your child begins to sleep.

Many babies sleep while traveling in the family car. Parent's stress level can be reduced by scheduling travel for your child's sleep times.

When you travel using car seats or strollers, a small pillow can help to make the trip more comfortable for your child.

One or two familiar objects from home, such as blankets and pillows can help your child adjust to new and strange surroundings.
