Drawbacks to Nanny Care

Unfortunately, unless you are home while the nanny is caring for your child or invest in a “nanny-cam,” it is difficult to know what happens during the day when you are not there. You’ll want to drop in without notice regularly and establish some form of reporting the day’s events. In addition, you’ll want to see proof that the nanny is doing activities with the child such as child created pictures and crafts, or even grass-stained clothes that evidence a fun outdoor excursion. You’ll also want to create a written agreement between you and your nanny to establish job expectations, hours, pay and to establish an employment period to avoid a sudden lapse in care. Be sure to provide yourself an out for terminating employment, and if your nanny is very unhappy and wants to leave, it is best to let them go to avoid exposing your child to any negativity.

Benefits of Nanny Care

Nannies can provide one-on-one care. Children often form a strong bond with them and can be cared for in the comfort of their own homes. In addition, a nanny offers you the opportunity to care for your child specifically according to your requirements, unlike group care in which individualized requirements are sometimes not possible. It also allows your child freedom of activity and more control over their day.
